Windows 10: Why can't I format, delete files, add files or make any changes to an SD card that had been...

When I insert the card, it says it has a problem, but clicking on fix the problem doesn't do anything, it fails.I can see and access all the files on the SD card, and they go away when I delete them. I can delete all of them and the disk properties shows no space used.The I Eject the device and plug it back in and all the files and directories are still there. Nothing was deleted.I tried to format a SD card that was in a phone and the format failed and now Win11 can't access the SD card.How can I recover and reuse the SD card in Win11.

If you are trying to format the SD card, you may try the following steps.



Please backup your files before proceeding with this step. This will delete all the files saved in the SD Card





Step 1:

Insert the microSD card into your computer card reader. If you do not have a card reader, use a USB card reader to add this capability. If your card reader does not accept microSD cards, insert the card into an SD card adapter
to convert it to standard SD card size. When doing so, make sure the adapter's lock slider is in the unlocked position.





Step 2:

Click the "Start" button, right-click "Computer" and select "Manage" to open the Computer Management dialog box.



Step 3:

Click "Disk Management" from the left panel.



Step 4:

Right-click the microSD card from the list of storage devices and select "Format."



Step 5:

Click the "File System" drop-down menu and select the file system you wish to use. If the card will be used in personal electronic devices, choose "FAT32" or "FAT." If the card will only be used on your computer, choose "NTFS."



Step 6:

Click "OK" to format the microSD card.

You can format your SD card in File Explorer. To do this, follow these steps:

• Insert your SD card.
• Open File Explorer.
• On the left pane, right-click your SD card and choose Format.
• If you want to change the File system of your SD card, click the drop-down menu below it and choose one of the options there.
• Click Start, and then click OK on the prompt.
• After formatting your SD card, click OK again on the prompt.

Try with this

Method 1. Run Diskpart to Format SD Card That Won't Format

Step 1. Press Windows key and R key at the same time, type cmd in the Run box, hit Enter to open the command prompt(cmd.exe).

Step 2. Type diskpart to run Diskpart Utility.

Step 3. Type list disk to list the drives on the computer.

Step 4. Type select disk 1 (The number should be replaced by the exact drive number of your SD card).

Step 5. Type clean to run the clean utility (this will wipe all data on the SD card so make sure you saved a copy or backup of the card data).

Step 6. Type create partition primary to create a new partition on the SD card.

Step 7. Type select partition 1 (it should be the newly created partition on step 6).

Step 8. Type active to make the partition active.

Step 9. Type format fs=ntfs （or format fs=fat32）to format the partition to the desired file system.
