Windows 10: Why can't I play HVEC videos through the Movies and TV video player on windows?

I have a few .MP4 files that I need to be converted by my system so I can edit them with Davinci Resolve. I have installed the HEVC video extensions on the Microsoft Store but I am still unable to play the videos with the Movies and TV app. I have installed this on two separate devices and all the files fail to play on either, I get the 0xc00d3e8c error code when trying to play the files and it tells me the file format isn't supported. However, if I play the files through VLC, it works just fine. I have already tried resetting the Movies and TV app but that didn't work. I am filming the footag

Movies & TV and Windows Media Player only play audio for the first few seconds of videos

When I open a video in Movies & TV or Windows Media Player the first few seconds of the video plays only audio with a black screen (on Movies & TV) or only audio and a freeze frame of the video (on Windows Media Player). On Windows Media Player if I set the video to repeat, the freeze frame will be a little shorter on subsequent views. The issue is the worst on MP4s and M4Vs and less pronounced (but still present) with webms. The length of time in which no video is played varies from file to file but each file seems to have a consistent length of time in which it stays frozen. It lasts anywhere from half a second to like 7 seconds.

Watching a video in the Photos program has the same problem. VLC and MPC HD have absolutely no issues.

I've tried:

• repairing and resetting both apps
  
• uninstalling and reinstalling then restarting my PC.
  

 

Windows 10 Movies & TV will not play any home videos or movies

Windows 10 Movies & TV will not play any home videos or movies. I tried the troubleshooting method (no issues detected) as well as running WSReset.exe (all it did was take me to the Windows store. The files will play on Windows Media Player.

 

Movies and Tv app won't play any videos in windows 10

I have windows 10 installed via upgrade in my desktop computer and the movies & TV app won't play any videos at all. Only black screen with the dots running at the bottom. Movies and Tv app shows the video files in my hard drive but when you click on it
to play, only black screen appears. If i play those files mentioned above in VLC, Power Media Player (Cyberlink) they all play the video files. Even windows media player played them. What do you think is causing this problem.
