Windows 10: why can't i run the settings app on my brand new win 11 laptop ?

why can't i run the settings app on my brand new win 11 laptop ?after I did the initial setup I ran Edge to visit some website which worked.I ran the setting app this very 1st time it workednext I downloaded a .exe to install some software. when i tried to run the exe file I got an error about "s mode".after that error I can no longer run the settings app

Both your CPU and graphics card should be ok- your CPU is on the list:
Windows 11 CPU List Released | WePC

and your graphics card is new enough to support DirectX 12.

These requirements are set by the installer of Win 11. Detailed specs for Win 11 have been released by MS and are given in other such threads here and on elevenforum, but may change slightly before official release.

I ran the troubleshoot power option and it said “Display brightness setting is too high”

but it’s a brand new laptop, i should think I could expect the most from it.

I haven’t tried the next steps uou have suggested yet.

 

Backup from Win 10 old laptop restore to new Win11 laptop

I want to buy a new laptop with win 11. QUESTION: Can I do a backup from my old win10 laptop and THEN restore into my new win 11 laptop? Could you please give all the steps? Thank you from friends.
