Windows 10: Why Can't I Schedule Downloads?

My ISP offers free bandwidth from 02:00-08:00.

In fact, as I understand it, ISPs the world over offer their customers similar concessions. Common as this may be, the practice has somehow eluded the great minds at Microsoft, evidenced by the fact that Windows still offers no provision (that I can find) for scheduling downloads at off-peak hours. Indeed it downloads updates as it pleases, willy-nilly.


If Microsoft wishes to earn favor in the eyes of its customers, respecting the limits of their overpriced, on-peak bandwidth would be a good place to start.

Schedule windows store Downloads

Hi Sajad,

As per your query you would like to schedule a download of the game during time specified above.

You can not schedule a game download from Windows store during the time specified above.

As a work around you have to manually put the game on download during the night time you specified and stop the downloading within the time.

Also, please provide us a feedback with the above suggestion for better assistance.

Follow the below steps.

1.Type Feedback in search bar.

2. Select/double click the Feedback app from the listed option in search.

3. Follow online instruction.

Scheduling Downloads


Hi there,
You could always get Windows to check at 3AM that way it would download once it's checked. To change the time Windows check for updates simply do the following...

1. Go to Action Center
2. Look for the Automatic Maintenance section
3. Put a check in the Allow scheduled maintenance to wake up my computer at the scheduled time check-box
4. Optionally set the exact time (to the hour) when Windows should wake up and check
