Windows 10: WHY CAN'T I STOP CONTENT UPDATES

I have all auto update settings off and avoid content updates until I know all the stuff they involve, I am fine with security updates though. Windows still forces me to update, and as if that isnt bad enough, I get all the content updates alongside the security updates. Basically I'm wondering: what are the laws related to this, as Google has failed me on that front, and I'm curious about how legal it is to use security updates to force content changes. There is also my question of why use the concept of mandatory security updates to force content updates, at the very least why not say you ar

Most probably, this is a problem with the search and indexing of your Windows 10 computer. For us to provide the best resolution possible, we would like to clarify the following:

• Are you trying to search the content of MHT files using Cortana?
• Have you tried searching it using the File Explorer?
• Are you using a third-party app to search for the content of MHT files?

As an initial troubleshooting step, we suggest that you run the troubleshooter for search and indexing. To run the Search and Indexing troubleshooter, follow these steps:

• Click the Start button and select the Settings
  icon.
• Choose Update & Security from the list.
• Click Troubleshoot in the left pane of the window.
• Under Find and fix other problems.
• Select Search and Indexing and click Run the troubleshooter.

How to stop Windows 10 update in progress

Hi,

This could be due to corrupted Windows Update components. We suggest that you run the Windows Update troubleshooter to address this. See this
support article and click on Download troubleshooter for Windows 10.

If the issue persists even after running the troubleshooter, we suggest that you delete the SoftwareDistribution folder or its contents. The SoftwareDistribution folder is used to store Windows Update cache. Follow the steps below on how you can delete the
said folder:

• Navigate to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution.
• Delete the folder itself or the contents.
• Restart your PC. Doing so will restore a new SoftwareDistribution folder that basically refreshes Windows Updates.
