  1. Why can't I turn on AutoSave in WORD?

Since I installed WIndows 11, when I am in WORD, there is an icon which indicates that AutoSave is off. When I go to turn it on, it says that "Mail Merge is interfering and to please complete the mail merge". Here is the problem. I do not use Mail Merge; I don't even know what it is. How can I turn on AutoSave? To be clear, does AutoASave mean that I will not longer have to "save" everytime I close the document I am working on?

    :)

Autosave not properly working for a Word document on OneDrive

    I want to verify something:
If you right-click the affected Word file where AutoSave keeps turning off, and select Properties, what does it list as the location of the file?

    Word Autosaved files disappear

I’m on Windows 10. I have a Word .docx file which I use to type drafts for various purposes (posting on Forums, sending e-mails, personal notes, etc). It is not the first time that this file disappears, with a message saying the file to which the shortcut points can no longer be found. I’have never moved this file or deleted it.!
By the way, this file shows as AUTOSAVED in the list of Word .docx files when I open Word, but cannot be opened. I guess thhis may have something to do with the AUTOSAVED feature, which is a real nuisance. It already messed me up previously.
While does this file disappear? I ran a search without finding it.

    Thanks

Why can't I turn on AutoSave in WORD?

Need Serious Help: How To Record Video of What is Done on my PC?

I suggest the following simple steps:

    1. Set the autosave options in MS Office to a low value say 5 minutes.
    2. Setup file history to autosave frequently - the shortest period is 5 mins
    3. Install Macrium Reflect Free and configure it to do a daily incremental system backup

You should be well covered if you do the above to protect your key files.
