Windows 10: Why can't I use any of the new features of Windows 11 KB5030310?

I had a fresh installation of Windows 11 recently before downloading the September 26 KB5030310 cumulative update. I was able to use the new Copilot and File Explorer features for a while until I restarted my laptop. When I logged back in, all the new features of that update were gone. It just went back to the regular Windows 11 UI.The settings app tells me that I am up to date. Did my copy of Windows roll back some features since KB5030310 is partially a preview update? Has anyone else experienced this too?

No, there is nothing new on the system. Windows updates are all in up to KB5030310.

Considering that the problem shows up when KB5030310 is installed and disappears when it is uninstalled points, I think, that there is some problem with this update on my system.

The question is - are there any similar reports of other users? What can I do? Obviously, I will not be able to install Win11 23H2 until KB5030310 is installed first and working.

Thanks. I have done SFC scannow and DISM Restorehealth right away after my first download/install of KB5030310. It did not help.



Let me repeat what is happening. After I download and install KB5033010 and perform restart I normally start few things which I need all the time. The first one is the Windows Explorer. I can see that the File Manager starts, flash on the screen but the File Manager window does not show up and I do not see files. Task Manager shows that Windows Explorer is running. Restarting Windows Explorer does not help. The desktop is running, all icon are visible. The only way to restore the File Manager window is to uninstall KB5030310.



My questions here – Is there some possible problem with KB5030310? Is there some setting that I may have which is causing this problem? I have installed Win 11 just a couple of months ago. My previous Win 10 installation never had any similar problems.

I installed KB5030310 update and Copilot is not showing

I am in the US and have the same problem(no KB5030310 features work) on 2 of my 6 Windows 11 desktops.

My guess is this is happening because I noticed during the update that more then one update was installed

simultaneously. Bottom line: I cannot make Pilot of any of the KB5030310 work even though it says it's installed.

All of my Lenovo desktops are identical.

On one that failed(1), these updates were installed at the same time as KB5030310:

On one other(2) that failed, these updates were installed at the same time as KB5030310:

On one 4 that worked, only KB5030310 was installed
