    Why can't I use any userid and password pair that I want in windows Remote desk top


    Why can't I use my own name as a user when trying to Remote desktop between two computers in my own home not more than 2 feet apart via ethernet. I bought the two PCs they have no other users, yet I cannot connect them. Even when I use "Everyone" as a user, the Remote Desktop App wants a password, And is not happy with any password that I can think of. And if I put in my own name as a user, it refuses to acknowledge that I even exist.Why can't I put in any userid and password pair that I wish? I'm not singling out Windows per se because Linux is even worse.

    Please check if there are any pending Windows updates and install them.

    You may also run the in-built troubleshooter and check if it helps. Type control panel on the search tab in the task bar>type control panel> on the search tab (top right corner)>type troubleshooting> on the right>click on view all>choose hardware and devices>
    follow the on screen steps.

    If the issue persists, try this:

    After running Troubleshooter follow the below steps.
    • Type Remote Desktop in search bar.
    • Select Remote Desktop app and open it.
    • In the bottom you will see a button as Show Options.
    • Click on Show Options, you will see the options to enter your credentials.
    • Enter the credentials and click on Connect.
    • Check if it works.

    Desk top will not accept password

    When I power up my desk top, the first screen is a notice that it is time to change my password, but it will not accept my current password as being correct. How do I overcome this problem?
