Windows 10: Why can't I use Windows 11 Backup tool to backup to my USB or External SSD Drive?

    Why can't I use Windows 11 Backup tool to backup to my USB or External SSD Drive?


    I'm trying to setup Windows Backup utility to use either my USB drive or External SSD drive. Windows keeps telling me that these drives aren't valid places to backup to. What can I do to get Windows to accept either of these drives as a backup source?

    Hard Drive / External Drive + Backups Configuration?

    Drive configuration is really a personal choice. I prefer RAID-0 for OS & Games, another drive for media, another drive for personal stuff (Docs, pr0n, etc.) and an external for backup.

    IMO, Windows 7 has a great backup utility.

    Hard Drive / External Drive + Backups Configuration?

    Pickup a 2TB for internal use, use all above drives as external for periodic backup of the 2TB. That way you have the best of both worlds, backup and "speed".
