Windows 10: Why can't my games find my save files in My Documents anymore?

A while ago I wanted to change to location of my Documents folder from OneDrive to a local location. It was quite a struggle to get it done, but with some items on this forum I was successful. Now a few months later I suddenly noticed that my videogames cannot find my save games anymore if the videogame use my Documents folder to save its progress.To double check it is not a windows version issue I tried the account from my wife and noticed that on her account everything goes well. Therefor it seems to point towards a settings type of issue.Windows version 11 Pro

I would appreciate if you could answer few questions to narrow down to the issue.

• Did you sign in as administrator?
• Is the issue specific saving the file to this particular folder?
• What type of file are you trying to save?
• Did you install any third party security application?

This issue may arise when the user account that you have logged does not have Administrature previlage.

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

1) Press　Windows + r　and type　netplwiz, press Enter.

2) Check for the　Administrator account.

3) Log Off from your computer and Login through　Administrator account.

4) Again press　Windows + r　and type　netplwiz, press Enter.

5) Select your　Microsoft Account　and click on　Properties　button.

6) Click on　Group Membership　tab and check on　Administrator.

7) Log off from your computer and try logging in through　Microsoft account.

Cannot save files to network drives anymore

This could be due to the incorrect user information used. You may want to try the steps listed below and check if it works for you:

• Open Word 2016, and navigate to
  File > Account.
  
• Sign out of all the accounts under User Information.
  
• Restart Office, navigate to
  File > Account.
  
• Sign In to use the work email for user information.
  
• Now, try saving the Office documents to the mapped drive.
