  1. Why can't my Windows 7 laptop recognize our new router?

We had a new optimum router installed yesterday, and our windows 7 laptop will not show this router on the list of available networks. All other devices in the home have recognized and had no difficulty connecting to the new router. The interesting thing is that the windows 7 laptop is able to recognize and connect to the wifi extender which is connected to the new router. Unfortunately, the laptop is used far away from the extender and the connectivity is weak and unreliable. How do I get my laptop to list the new router as an option and connect?

    :)

Cannot connect to my new router

Just got a new router at home.

    Have two laptops.

The Windows 7 laptop connects wirelessly to the new router. So, the router is good.

The Windows 10 laptop connects wirelessly to the old router at work. So the windows 10 laptop is good.

But ... the windows 10 laptop cannot see my new router at home.

    What should I try next?

    Thanks,

if it helps -- the windows 10 laptop CAN connect to the router with an ethernet cable. So my problem is wireless.

and, the windows 10 laptop DOES list the routers it knows about. but it doesn't know about my new router. Maybe I have to tell it about it somehow?

Network a wndows 7 desktop with a windows 10 laptop

New to this stuff... Can someone detail what has to be done to each PC step by step so that I can share files, printer etc between the systems? The desktop has a wired connection to the router and the laptop is using wifi. Desktop is windows 7 home.

    thanks

Why can't my Windows 7 laptop recognize our new router?

    Need new Router

Doesn't your ISP has a list of suggested routers? If not, look for 802.11 AC Wireless routers.
