Windows 10: Why can't Windows 11 identify the ethernet connection to the router?

Trying to perform Windows 11 clean install on new built pc. The OS was previously installed on an NVMe and was accessing the internet using an ethernet connection. Had to correct a problem and decided to remove the Home version and clean install the Pro version. During the installation, the OS wants to make a network connection. It doesn't recognize the existing connection to the router. I'm using an ethernet cable. The router functions. I have another computer and printer connected and all are working. My phone also on the network. The board is Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Hero. There's 32 GB and DD

Using a router to connect PC with Ethernet

Their is only one phone jack where a modem can be placed in our house and it is to complicated to get Ethernet from the modem up to my computer. I can still connect with wireless internet but I want to be able to use Ethernet. The modem is a all in one (router+modem). If I buy a router and place it in my room can it connect to the all in one modem without using a phone jack (Just plugging it into the power outlet) alowing me to connect the router to the PC using Ethernet?

Have you tried connecting to a different port on the router? Have you tried with a different Ethernet cable?

Open Device Manager (click Start, type Device Manager in the Search box, and press Enter).

Double-click "Network adapters" to expand the category

Double-click on each item in the Network adapters category and report:

• the complete name of the item
• the item's Device Status (on the "General" tab)

With an Ethernet cable connected between the router and the laptop (and with an active wi-fi connection as well), please do the following:

Open a Command Prompt window (type cmd in the Search box and press Enter)

1. In the black Command Prompt window, type the following and press Enter after each line

ipconfig /all > "%userprofile%\Desktop\ipinfo.txt"

notepad "%userprofile%\Desktop\ipinfo.txt"

exit

1. In the open Notepad window, click Edit > Select All (or press CTRL+A) then click Edit > Copy (or press Ctrl+C)
2. In the body of your Question, Right-click > Paste (or press CTRL+V) the data from the Notepad window
3. Close Notepad and delete ipinfo.txt from your Desktop

My Ethernet card doesn't connect to my router, but does to my laptop?

My desktop stopped connecting to the internet today. It has an Ethernet adapter, which is built into the motherboard, and no Wi-Fi functionality.

I started by ruling out faulty cables, by testing the Ethernet connection with my laptop (with wi-fi turned off entirely), which worked properly.

I reset the router to default settings, with assistance from my ISP, Bell, to no avail.
Next, I tried to use netsh winsock reset and netsh int ip reset, to no avail.

In frustration, I tried to bridge a connection from my laptop's wi-fi through its Ethernet adapter to my desktop. Surprisingly, this worked, and I can navigate properly on the desktop and laptop at the same time.

I tried to reinstall the driver for the desktop's Ethernet adapter. It continued not to work without using the bridged connection through the laptop, both with the default driver and the one provided by Windows' automatic update.

I'm not sure what could be causing this issue, and I haven't found any other suggested steps in my searches.

In short, my desktop's Ethernet adapter does not work when connected directly to router, but works when connected to laptop using a bridged connection.
