Windows 10: Why can't windows open my VP3 and Vf3 files

I'm really struggling with my sewing machine embroidery software. Husquvarna Viking Designer Jade 35. Files are VP3or VF3 contained on memory stick. I can't open the files to view them. I have tried using various apps with zilch results. Can anyone rescue me from this nightmare.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Downloaded .pdf files are being changed to .vp3

I download embroidery machine folders from websites all the time. These folders have usually 10 files that are formated for the embroidery machines and 2 PDF files that have the instructions for how to sew out the design on your embroidery machine and copyright
info. My files are showing up as .vp3 files instead of the PDF files. The file is right on the website where I get the files but when I open them on my computer they are .vp3. Please help. I have a lot of files that I download that are a one time only download
so I can't go back and try again to save them. Please tell me how to change something that will make them download in the right format. All the other files in the folder are downloaded right.

opening .dds files with gimp

Simply, HOW? I got the DDS plugin but the POS wont open DDS files still. Can someone give me a step-by-step rundown of how to install the DDS plugin for gimp so I know if I'm missing something?
