  1. Why Create a System Image detect my internal hard drive partition F: as a System Drive ?

Hi I was trying to create a system image via Backup and Restore Windows 7 , but it does detect my internal hard drive partition F: as a System Drive! and the program didn't allow me to exclude the drive F: from the system image creation , Currently Windows system is located at C drive.I had formatted the F drive using Disk Management in Windows, the F drive still showed up in Create-a-system-image as a System Drive . How do we fix this?

    :)

    W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

    - press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
    - diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
    - list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
    - select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
    - clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
    - create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
    - exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
    - click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that

Backup "Create a system image" dialog does not list second hard drive as a target location

The dialog to create a system image in Windows 10 does not list my second hard drive (D: drive, formatted NTFS, not configured as removable storage, does not contain my windows installation) as a target location.

On the Disk management screen, the C: drive I want to back up is listed as a system & boot drive, the D: drive is listed as a plain NTFS drive (no 'page file', 'system' or anything but 'Primary partition' in the brackets).

Because of this, I can not back up my Windows installation as a system image. I noticed the system image dialog does list a USB stick when I insert it. Is the solution to somehow mark my D: drive as 'removable storage' somehow, or is there another reason
it does not list my D: drive?

    System Image in a partition

    Hi,

Is it possible to create a system image into a partition that is in the same physical hard drive?

So if I have Drive C with the OS, and Drive D with nothing in it, can I create a system image and put it into Drive D?
