  1. Why did a laptop change from Windows 11 Pro to Windows 11 Home after a reimage.

I received a laptop, that was used by someone who is no longer at the company, to troubleshoot a crashing issue and prepare it for the next user. When I received the laptop it was on the domain and the users credentials were cached on the laptop. After resorting to reimaging the laptop, it changed from Pro edition to Home edition. How is this possible when Windows 11 media creation tool auto selects what version is installed based on the key associated with the device? Also, I am new to the company so I am not sure how everything was done before I arrived.

    :)

Windows 11 Pro Upgrade from Windows 10 Pro Edition

No but after it installed the malfunctioning Windows 11 upgrade it was listed as Windows 11 Pro. Microsoft Windows support advised I reinstall Windows 10 Pro and said that Windows 11 is really only meant for new PC's that come with it preinstalled. MSI website doesn't list my 2020 GT76 Titan dt-039 notebook on their Windows 11 upgrade eligibility list so I guess that's why the Windows 11 Pro upgrade failed. I suggest being careful with trying the Windows 11 upgrade despite it stating my notebook was capable of running Windows 11 it was wrong. Luckily I have the original Windows 10 Pro USB Flash drive because the Windows 11 Pro upgrade was so incomplete I had no way of reverting notebook back to Windows 10 without reinstalling from a USB Flash.

Why did a laptop change from Windows 11 Pro to Windows 11 Home after a reimage.

    Lost windows 11 pro ?

Yes, you can upgrade from Windows 11 Home to Windows 11 Pro on your new computer. Since you already have a Windows 10 Pro key that was previously activated on your old computer, you can use that key to upgrade your current Windows 11 Home to Windows 11 Pro.

To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Click on the Start button and select Settings (the gear icon).
    2. In the Settings window, select System.
    3. In the System menu, choose the "Activation" option.
    4. Click on the "Change product key" option.
    5. Enter the Windows 10 Pro product key that you previously purchased and activated.
After entering the product key, your system should initiate the upgrade process to Windows 11 Pro. This upgrade process should not require a complete reinstallation of the operating system, and your data should remain intact on your SSD.

It's always a good practice to back up your important data before performing any major system changes, just to ensure that your data is safe in case of any unforeseen issues during the upgrade process. This way, even if there are any complications during the upgrade, you can restore your data from the backup.

Once the upgrade is complete, your Windows 11 Home should be upgraded to Windows 11 Pro, with all your data and applications preserved. You can verify the successful upgrade by checking the system settings or the activation status in the Windows settings.
