Why did Microsoft remove the option to ungroup the taskbar in Windows 11? Are they going to implement it in the short term or not? It seems that Microsoft doesn't want the user to be aware of open windows for some reason.

That's currently not supported. I suggest you to drop a feedback to Microsoft on this, using Feedback hub app.

Certain Legacy features in Windows 11 taskbar is missing, including ungrouping items in the taskbar. Microsoft is tracking Feedback on this.
