Windows 10: Why did my Desktop, Documents, Pictures, Videos and Music folders move from being under...

Why did my Desktop, Documents, Pictures, Videos and Music folders move from being under "This PC"? They are now above "This PC" under the Quick Access area. Why was this change made? It makes dragging files from one subfolder to another subfolder in the same main folder challenging. WHY????? This had to happen over the last week because things were fine since purchasing my new PC in July. Can we go back to the format everyone was used to - see attached pic? WHY the change????? It's not user-friendly, at least not to me.I'd like to access the folders easily under "This PC" - is this possi

Folders: Changing directory of user library folders (desktop, music, pictures, documents, videos)

The relavent registry key is:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

While newly-created accouunt will have a single value for each of the user folders, when you redirect them a second value appears for Docuemtns, Picutres, Music, VIdeos, and Downloads. So you'll want to create hose values and give them the same path data
as their "twin".

Folders: Changing directory of user library folders (desktop, music, pictures, documents, videos)

I'm realizing that some folders like contacts, favorites, and search are missing.

Are those saved in a different location?

 

Default Documents/Music/Pictures/Videos folder alternatives?

( Mine is C:\Users\Mike )
Right click Documents, Pictures, Music, Video, > Properties > Location






Here you can change the default location of docs, music, pics, vids, to any other location you choose. *Smile
( Mine looks different because i change the name & icon on it. )
