Windows 10: Why did my fingerprint sign-in and face recognition suddenly stop working?

I've been using my 11th generation Ideapad Slim 7 laptop for about 1.5 years, and it's been great. However, around 2 months ago, both the fingerprint sign-in and face recognition suddenly stopped working. Now, I have to enter a password every time I want to use my laptop. When I look in the settings, it says that the fingerprint and face recognition options aren't available and asks me to try again later. I've attached a picture showing this error message. I've tried checking the settings multiple times, restarting the laptop, and updating the drivers, but the issue persists. I also check fo

Hi, having a PIN is a precursor to setting up face recognition. I.e. when this was done, you would have used one: see

If you are lucky, assuming you have Home, see the registry option -Option 2- here;

What happened just before this? Did you receive an update or upgrade, or attempt to update drivers for example?

Do you know the underlying password? (Using biometrics or a PIN does NOT make the password you would originally have used redundant). And once you are logged in, whether using face recognition or anything else, there are circumstances when you would be prompted for your password.

Is your account local, or linked to your Microsoft live id?

Can you use an alternative means to sign in e.g. your password?

Can I enable face and fingerprint recognition on my laptop?

The face and fingerprint recognition are disabled on my Lenovo laptop and I am unable to turn these options again. I receive a message in ‘Sign-in Options’ that ‘face and fingerprint recognition are not available
on this device’. I suppose it is due to the failure of my Lenovo fingerprint reader. I can use my laptop signing is through the password and pin. But I want to be able to use face and fingerprint
