Why did my more secure "Xfinity" option to connect disappear? I'm forced to use their open hotspot! I would like to try updating the driver for my network adapter first, can anyone possibly send me the current driver for the Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac PCIe Adapter? Right now I'm using version 2024.0.10.226 dated 12/24/2021. I think there may be a 2024 driver and I know you can assure me a safe download?Thank you so much,Colleen

Xfinity Wifi showing up in my routers available internet connections ?

I recently found that "xfinity wifi" is showing up in my available internet access list as an openly available option.
I have comcast xfinity hi speed internet as my internet provider but have never had it show up on the routers available connections list before. The home network I set up years ago has a different name.

I am puzzled why this free open network has suddenly appeared in the list. As it requires no password I think there is a possibility its use might present a security risk
Is this a new Xfinity feature??

Wifi Connection using Xfinity modem

An "authentication problem" suggests that you're using the wrong password. It's not at all clear what "Got Xfinity to fix that I believe by reconnecting modem with password" implies, but perhaps the Xfinity tech changed your wifi password.

What do you mean by "I have been having intermittent connection with Xfinity"? Are you referring to connecting by wifi with your laptop or Kindle or do you mean that even when you connect to the Xfinity modem by Ethernet (cable) your connection sometimes drops out?

View your wifi password and write it down. See several methods here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/view-change-wifi-password

Now take a look at the wifi password saved on your laptop:

If the password in your laptop is NOT the same as the one you viewed above, change it to match.

While you're at this screen, write down the "Security type" and "Encryption type" should further troubleshooting be necessary.
