Windows 10: Why did my secondary NVME SSD suddenly dissappeared from my BIOS and disk management.Laptop...

Laptop: Asus Tuf F15 fx516pmMy secondary drivers which has been in my laptop since I bought it was working well until it suddenly disappeared from my file explorer. I checked disk management and BIOS and it has also disappeared from there. I have opened up my laptop, took the SSD out and put it back in, but it is still not appearing back.

How can I change the disk number of NVME SSD (Boot) to DISK-0 in Disk Management in Windows 11?

I have my OS installed on NVME SSD (physically installed on motherboard) and other drives are connected using SATA cables. But for some reason, the boot drive (NVME SSD) always shows DISK 5 (Last Disk) in disk management.

So far on the forums, people suggest to switch ports but I have only one NVME SSD port on my motherboard.

Also, I tried to boot pc just with boot drive and disconnected all other drive. Then it showed my boot drive as DISK 0 but as soon as I connect other drives, it again goes to last.

What should I do?

Have you tried to install Windows on SSD NVMe?

It is different than installing Windows on a regular disk. On a regular disk, Windows automatically create the bootable sector. Hence BIOS can load OS on a regular disk easily, when you turn on the PC.

On SSD NVMe, it is not like that. Special tool or software was required to make it bootable, before OS installation. Otherwise, BIOS cannot load the OS from SSD NVMe, when you turn on the PC. At least this is the case with Windows 7. Does Windows 10 installer automatically create a bootable sector in SSD NVMe?

 

Windows not recognizing new m.2 NVME SSD but shows in BIOS

I purchased a crucial nvme m.2 ssd for my MSI GT73 Titan - It shows in the PCIE section of the BIOS but does not show in disk management - Also does not show up in Crucial's Storage Executive Application.

My BIOS is the latest version.

Any ideas?
