Windows 10: Why did my Windows 10 PC hang up at a black screen with a cursor after I replaced an SSHD...

Since 2021, my usual desktop PC’s configuration has involved a Samsung solid-state drive SSD with a Windows 10 installation and a Seagate solid-state hybrid drive SSHD. The SSHD in question is now over 10 years old. I very recently decided to replace it. Particularly since Seagate doesn’t manufacture SSHDs anymore, I decided to replace my SSHD with an Enterprise-class hard disk drive HDD made by Western Digital. Even though the hard drive in question is only 1 TB, I decided to use GPT instead of MBR for it. I used Robocopy to copy files from the SSHD to the HDD. At the time, the HDD was

Please follow the below suggestion and check if that helps.

If you see the black screen only
after sign-in and you can see a mouse cursor:

• While at the black screen, try using CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to start Task Manager.
  
• If it becomes visible, try finding LockAppHost.exe on the Details tab and ending the task.
  

If this resolves the black screen, use corruption resolution steps.

I would also suggest you to run the System update readiness command. It detects incorrect manifests, cabinets or registry data, it may replace the incorrect data with corrected version available. Follow the steps.

• Press Windows key + X.
• Click command prompt (Run as administrator).
• In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type the following commands. Press
  Enter key after each command:
  • DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
  • DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

To close the Administrator: Command prompt window, type
Exit, and then press Enter.

Black screen after 'Starting Windows' sequence

Sounds like the old... windows black screen of death.

Try this quoted from "VisiHow" article "Repair Windows 7 Black Screen of Death":

Google search and you will find a lot of the "Windows Black Screen of Death with cursor" fixes.

Sorry to know that you are unable start Windows 10 as it is stuck with Black screen and cursor. I will certainly help you.

This issue might occur if the display drivers goes corrupted or the startup files are damaged.

I suggest you to follow the steps recommended by Amit Kumar on September 24, 2015
on similar issue from the following link and check if it resolves the issue.
