  1. Why did the clock stop?

I don't know if I never noticed in similar cases, but the clock had the same time on it after I returned from a break as before the break. I took the break because I couldn't click on anything and the back button hadn't accomplished anything, and the bottom of the screen was blurry where I see an ad on some sites,

    Live Clock Tile

Just because it's not the answer you want to hear, doesn't mean it's correct. Working with lots of Windows Phone support groups, this is the only thread about large clocks I've encountered.

Also, a Live Tile clock app is technically impossible on Windows Phone because the minimum amount of time an app can update is every 30 minutes. Manufacturers have special APIs they can use, and that's why HTC made an app with a large clock, because large
    clocks were their thing.

There's no one stopping you from asking Nokia or Samsung or whatever to make an app with a wide Live Tile that has a clock. There's also no one stopping you from bringing this

    suggestion
on the suggestion box that 7thSense linked to and telling Microsoft directly what you want.
