Windows 10: Why did the Volume Drive letters change after a Windows 10 upate?

HiMy laptop did an automatic update on Windows 10 but for some reason the process was interrupted. Now when it boots up it goes into a Windows updating, please do not turn off. I have left run for over 24 hrs and message remains the same. My laptop has an SSD and a HDD. The SSD contains the operating system and the HDD is used to store data.I note that using diskpart that the SSD is displayed Drive 1 and the HDD is displayed as Drive 0. I think is why the system does not boot up. My question is how did this occur and what can I do to fix it so the laptop starts as normal.For example would the

Ever since I reformated, my drive letters have changed besides C:\ and I would like to change back the other 2 drive letters.(One being the system volume letter) just so the programs I use to have still work. Is this safe? What are some negatives?

It depends. Need some more information. Is your boot volume c: ? If so, then others can be changed around as needed, but there may be collateral damage. Usually, if there are pointers set in the registry, as long as you use the storage management plugin to change the drive letter assignments, most things should work.

Trouble comes in the form of applications that keep file system information (folders, path names, etc) in files that are stored in directories during installation. Those usually cannot be changed easily, unless you know that they are there and where they are....

What drive letters are you trying to change specifically, and what is the operating system

The operating system WAS on c:\ (before I changed windows over to my SATA), NOW it is on E:\. Keep in mind I have 3 hard drives at the moment.
