Windows 10: Why did this just happening in last few days february 2024 Could not download - virus scan...

Just in the past few days I began getting virus scan failed messages when I tried to download files from reputable sites bank, hydro company, etc. At first thought it was only .csv files but affects other file types also.Same for Chrome and Edge. Did not try other browsers yet.The only remedy I have found to work so far is changing the value from 3 to 1 for:HKEY_LOCAL_ MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Windows\Current\Version\Policies\Attachments\ScanWithAntiVirusI am using Windows Defender.Was there a recent "update" that caused this?

Slow as mollasses virus scan on file downloads from Chrome

I run a standard Windows 10 setup, with Microsoft Windows Defender and the only virus and malware tool. I also use Chrome almost exclusively.

When I download a large file (~50-100mb), it takes for-ever (15 to 20 minutes) for the virus scan to happen. I am not sure what the hold up is, but I do know it is very irritating. All of this on a behemoth machine, 8 cores, 16 threads, 32Gb Ram, NVME drives.

Any suggestions?
