Windows 10: Why did Windows suddenly start requiring MS account password to log into my computer?

I am not looking for help, I am looking for an explanation. Last night I was messing around on my computer, switching between accounts on several occasions. At some point, between 8:00PM and 10:00PM EST on July 27th, the computer required, for the first time ever, my MS account password in order to get back to my primary account. Prior to this occurring I had always used by local account password to sign in. I know there are other discussions on similar topics but I have not found one that provides any reason for this occurring. Using Windows 10 with latest updates.ThanksJim

Password suddenly required to start computer

I have been using Windows 10 for over a year (OS build 14393.693) and never set up a password since the computer is in my home and I'm the only user. Suddenly, two days ago, I'm required to have a password to log on. I was able to get in using my Microsoft
account login. I've read the various suggestions from one or two years ago, such as typing "netplwiz" and unchecking the "users must enter..." box. This did not solve the problem. I do
not want to use a password or PIN. I tried a system restore, but it failed. Here are my questions:

1. Was there a recent Microsoft update that has suddenly required this login?

2. How can I revert back to not needing a password or PIN to open my computer?

3. If I have to log in with a Microsoft account password, does that mean Microsoft has access to my computer?

Log in requires password

Since a recent update the PC now requires a password to log in.

I have tried Windows Key - netplwiz and unchecked "users must use password...."

There are no other users shown in the listing.

I use my Windows account as my log in which is also the administrator account.

Also on restart the lock screen shows - pretty picture and no taskbar. I have to press spacebar to release that and then it shows my account and requires a password input.

 

Upgrading to windows 10 suddenly creates a password to my computer???

If you are using a Microsoft Account you cannot remove password because of the security reasons. I would suggest you to create a new local account from which you can log in and avoid login password and pin. Follow the steps below.

Follow the steps below to avoid log in password.

• Press “Windows Key + R”.
• Type “netplwiz”.
• And select the Local account and uncheck the option "user must enter user name and password to use this computer".
