    Why didn't restoration from system image backup bring back my MS Office?


    Two weeks ago, I created a System Image of Windows 11, 64bit, of my PC laptop on an external hard drive formatted NTFS. On the drive the folder was named "WindowsImageBackup". Are "Windows Image" and "System Image" the same thing?Two days ago, my entire hard drive crashed, and I was forced to do a system reset factory reset. Windows built-in hard drive health check produced an overall clean bill of health with no reports of bad sectors. When I tried to restore my system from the external hard drive, it restored my files, documents, pictures, etc., but none of my programs that were already

    System Image PLUS File Backup?

    System Image PLUS File Backup?

    Hello I am finally getting around to backup and restore. So grateful I checked this site before jumping in to MS Backup and Restore (Windows 7). My next step is to download Macrium Reflect 8 Free to create system image. Besides creating a system image does anyone recommend backing up individual files (most are MS Office files)? Thought being files are created / modified daily. Thanks in advance for your help! Win 10 Version 21H1

    Why didn't restoration from system image backup bring back my MS Office?

    Macrium right click image>Restore brings up create image dialog

    I have more machines than I have licences, so I have Free on few of them, all machines are on the current v7.3.5854. My Free version also brings up the restore dialog the first time I tried.

    Note that when you choose to restore an image when right-clicking on it, then first Macrium opens as normal at the Backup tab, then the restore window pops up on top of that as a second window. It's this second step that seems to be failing for you.


    Reinstalling is a very good suggestion. All your settings and backup definitions will be retained.
