Why do certain games now immediately crash after installing servicing stack 10.0.19041.2300?

I'm having trouble with certain Steam games such as Dead By Daylight and Warthunder crashing immediately after running. I began encountering this issue after installing servicing stack 10.0.19041.2300 on 11/16/2022. I was once able to avoid these crashes by uninstalling KB5020613, but am now having the same issue again regardless of having removed KB5020613. My system is running Windows 10, version 21H2. Here are some of the solutions I have tried and what I've discovered: -I have reinstalled these games.-I've ruled out EasyAntiCheat, and other games that run EAC do not have this trouble. I

    Crashing with certain games

I have the identical issue as OP despite different hardware. Certain games crash within a few minutes while others are fine. Games that crash include Guardians of the Galaxy and Assassins Creed Origins.

I'm using a AORUS GeForce RTX™ 3080 XTREME 10G (rev. 2.0) and the Event Viewer message is identical, except instead of Device\Video3 is says Device\Video9.

I'm using 516.40 drivers and have already done a DDU. My next step is another DDU followed by year old drivers (466.47) listed on the AORUS GeForce RTX™ 3080 XTREME 10G (rev. 2.0) website. I don't see any VBIOS for the rev 2.0 version of the card.

I can provide DXDIAG, MSCONFIG, or anything you think could help to diagnose this.

  3. servicing stack updates

    Hi Neville,

Servicing stack updates are not listed in the Update History. A workaround is to install the newest cumulative update, which requires your device to have the latest servicing stack update Installed. If it says the update is not applicable provided it is for
your version and architecture, it probably would mean you do not have the latest SSU.

    Hope that helps.
