Windows 10: Why do emails older than a few weeks disappear from Inbox and folders?

Using Mail for Windows 10. I sort all read emails into folders. Noticed that "older" emails were disappearing. Followed instructions this morning for synccing the mail and got a couple of thousand downloaded to the Inbox. Spent some time filing and deleting and then went to lunch. Back again and all the stuff in my Inbox has disappeared. Some tips in the Help section refer to checking "rules" re "sweep" of Inbox, but this seems to only apply to Outlook. Really appreciate help, please.

windows 10 mail not showing emails older than 2 weeks. How do I recover them?

This is a new Dell laptop running Windows 10 professional. I've only had it for a couple months and I am using the mail program installed on the computer with a POP email account with my internet provider. I am used to using outlook express where my mail
stayed in my inbox unless I manually deleted it. This mail program has mail disappear from my inbox after a few weeks. When you get to the bottom of the list of emails in the inbox, it says "To find older emails, us search". When I search, nothing comes up
that is older than what is showing. Where did my emails go? Is there a store folder someplace where I can recover them?

I wish to keep Live Mail due to the abundance of folder settings.
When the Inbox disappeared, did it take all the current email messages with it? Any way to get them back? The archived messages are still where they are supposed to be, and all older messages (older than 7 days) have been archived.

email inbox folders dissapeared.

I have noticed recently that the ovi email has changed. I had some folder under inbox but they seemed to have disappeared. What has happened to my folders and the emails in them?
