Windows 10: Why do I get a black screen and missing taskbard after the new Windows update?

I did the recent windows update. Once it was done and asked my for my fingerprint to log in, the screen turned black. After a while, my regular screen would pop up, however, the taskbar at the bottom will be gone. I’ve tried a couple things that I’ve seen on here, some of them I could do and some of them nothing would happen when I tried. This computer is brand new and only a year or two old. When I press the windows button, nothing happens. The apps work but no matter how many times I turn the computer off and back on again, I always get the black screen and now task bar at the bottom.

Windows 7 black screen of death

I read a report a little while ago that said the black screens were nothing to do with updates but due to a malicious program (it hit more than just windows 7 users - vista, xp and 2000 were also prone to the black startup screen of death if infected). My windows 7 install is fully up-to-date and i've never had the black startup screen.

Just run some decent anti virus and you should be safe (i suggest microsoft security essentails since it's free and pretty decent). When you've installed an anti-virus i'd suggest doing a full scen to be sure there's nothing there.
