Windows 10: Why do I have to double click a rectangle to show my apps?

When I log into my account, some times a little white rectangle will show in the top left of my screen and I have to double click it to show my apps and when I do the rectangle still shows but behind my apps.

Skipping/CD details show as rectangles

Hi - I seem to be having the same problem (2.) - i.e. the track lists show ok through Gallery but as rectangles/zeros through Music Player. Did you manage to find a fix for this? I'd appreciate a reply if you did. Thanks

 

Removing Windows 10 double focus rectangle

For some reason, Windows 10 started showing double (thick) focus rectangle for desktop icons and listview items. It is 2 pixels thick.

How do I go back to single pixel (thin) focus rectangle as it originally used to be (1 pixel thick dotted rectangle)?

The screenshots are from desktop icons but it shows on any standard listview control.

So to be clear, I do not want to remove the focused rectangle, I want to make it thinner again.

 

Storage showing as double the actual SSD size

Running Windows 10 Home 20H2 (Build 19042.964) on an AMD based Windows Surface Laptop 4 with 512GB SSD.

Even though it has a 512GB SDD as confirmed by both disk management and file explorer, settings -> system -> Storage reports the size as 951GB! I have searched but struggling to discover how to get it to report the real size.

Per the image below it shows

• 553GB used - bigger than the size of the SDD
  519GB in system & reserved

System and reserved breaks down per this screenshot




Have tried various options including disk cleanup, SFC and DSIM to get it to report the correct size but to no avail. Any suggestions on how to correct this much appreciated?
