Why do I have to login just to move or delete a file?

I have a new laptop running Windows 10 build 1909. My old desktop is running Windows 10 build 1803. I'm setting it up now and have local admin rights on the laptop. Many times when I move or delete a file - like, for example, an app shortcut from the desktop - I am prompted to enter my username and password to complete the move or deletion to provide administrative permission. Why is that? In every other version of Windows I've used I am prompted with Yes or No and then it executes the command. Why is it now requiring me to enter my username and password every time I need to perform an administrative task? That's overkill, and is making the OS unusable for me. Is there a setting to disable that so it just asks Yes or No?

    Thanks

    :)

Please help! Having problems w/ PowerColor Radeon HD4650 AGP!

It's an FTP link.... so, what, I login with Guest & just hit enter for the password?

I understand why you suggested it... I was just curious how it knows what to delete... I might try it...

It's an FTP link.... so, what, I login with Guest & just leave the password field blank?
A window is popping up requesting I login for Authentication....

wait, with the login box still up, I may still have gotten it in the background with my dnld mgr....
can you verify the filesize of the zip file?

  3. How do I delete my account?

vBulletin needs some simple function, just like "register", called "deregister". What does it do? Turns off the account. Can no longer post. Other users see the person has left and don't expect answers. (Status: deregistered). All messaging is stopped. Email and password is deleted from database. However, POSTS remain, as does the username in the user database. The username cannot be reused.

This can be functionally replicated with what w1z suggested earlier in the thread, ie. fill in the email with nonsense and manually delete anything you want removed. However, it is more elegant to have a deregister function, just as you have unsubscribe to mailing lists, just as you deregister with the various authorities when you move house etc. etc.

However, users should bang on at the forum software developers to implement this, not the forum admins themselves, who bought the software with fixed functionality.

In fact, there is an add-on for vbulletin End-User Options - Self Delete: Allow users to self-delete their account - vBulletin.org Forum

Why do I have to login just to move or delete a file?

Choppy for a few..then just fine.

    Ok..then what?

Please list the complete steps to finish doing this, so I don't have to ask each time. *Smile Why do I have to login just to move or delete a file? :)

And just a question, why am I doing this in the first place? Will it benefit me?

    Thanks. S1iP
