Windows 10: Why do I have to rebuy apps I already bought?

    I bought HumanJapanese a few years ago on the Microsoft store yet now that I want to download the app on my new laptop it is telling me to buy it again. Nowhere does it show that this app is on my profile. I feel as if I'm being robbed. How do I trust that if I play for this again I wont have to again rebuy it in the future?

    This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. Why do I have to rebuy apps I already bought? :)

    In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

    First of all, this FAQ must be updated. From the current FAQ, I do not understand which product and in-app purchase must be bought to achieve what you want. In the Microsoft Store, the product names of the in-app purchases do not match the names in the FAQ
    or those within the app. This should be corrected. Or stated differently: Please, ask the author which variant of that app, should have been bought instead. Finally, the current FAQ states, Windows 10 (Mobile) is not supported at all, because there was no
    ‘BETA’ actually – and Windows 10 for Desktop left ‘Technical Preview’ in July and Windows 10 Mobile left ‘Technical Preview’ in November.

    Where:

    A) on your Lumia 930 (Windows Phone 8.1), or

    B) on your Lumia 930 (Windows 10 Mobile), or

    C) on another phone?

    Did you buy any in-app purchase via Tubecast PRO » Options » Unlock the app?

    My understanding so far, which are wild guesses because I do not understand that FAQ:

    • With Windows Phone 8, you buy the non-PRO variant and then go for the in-app purchase ‘Premium’. You have to buy that from your phone. If you want to use it on desktop as well, your have use the in-app purchase ‘Premium Universal’.
    • If you go for the PRO variant, that works only on the platform you bought it.
    What happens, when you bought that app in Windows Phone 7 or Windows Phone 8, and you use Windows 10 Mobile now. No idea. Furthermore, I do not understand why the PRO variant costs the same as ‘Premium Universal’, but, the FAQ states: If you bought […] "Premium"
    […], you have to rebuy for each platform, even in the PRO version.

    Furthermore, please, note: Both me and Hans are end-users like you. We try to help and understand your issue. The first step is to understand whether your current license allows you to use this app both on desktop and phone – because you have the desktop
    license currently. Therefore: Which in-app purchase did you buy as well? You find those in-app purchases via:

    A) All apps » TubeCast for YouTube » (bottom, right, that horizontal ellipsis) Options » Unlock the app » Premium

    B) All apps » Store » TubeCast for YouTube » Top and new in-app-purchases.

    If are not about a refund but you want to use that app, I would uninstall ‘TubeCast for YouTube
    PRO’ both on the desktop computer and on all my mobiles phones. Then, I would go for ‘TubeCast for YouTube’ (without PRO) » Options » Unlock the app » Premium (the one without any name behind it). Is it unlocked now? If not, I would go for
    ‘Premium Universal’. Is it unlocked now?
