Windows 10: Why do I not have background app permissions for Xbox if my computer is not in S mode

I am just getting tired of trying to find an answer, I've been trying for months.. Since December and I have not found a fix... So hopefully someone here has an aswer to find background app permissions for Xbox Game Bar or Xbox app itself.

Hello, I am a Microsoft user like you, try to help you solve this problem together!

The problem is that Xbox can no longer run in the background.

There is no Enable/Disable background permission in the installed application, possibly because the system file is corrupted or disabled

It is recommended to try the following troubleshooting:

1. Confirm whether it is an administrator user login

2. System file check and repair:

Press the win key, enter CMD in the search bar, select the best match, right-click the administrator mode "→ Enter: (Note the space, enter the command one by one and confirm)

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

DISm /Online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

SFC /SCANNOW

(File repair in safe mode may be required)

Restart your computer when finished

3. Group Policy Enable background application permissions (not applicable to Windows 11 Home Edition)

Step 1: Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box. Type gpedit.msc and press Enter.

Step 2: In the Group Policy window, use the left pane to navigate to the following folders.

Computer Configuration》Administrative Templates》Windows Components》App Privacy

Step 3: Double-click the "Let Windows Applications Run in the Background" policy in the right pane.

Step 4: Select Enable and use the drop-down menu under Options to select "User in Control". Then, click Apply and click OK.

Restart your computer and see if you can find the Background app permissions option in the Settings app to give Xbox programs background permissions

control which apps are allowed to run in the background. To see which apps have permission, just follow the below steps:

• Open the Start menu or Start screen and select “Settings.”
• Click or tap the “Privacy” icon in the Settings.
• Scroll down to the bottom of the list and select “Background apps.”
  
• You’ll see a list of apps that have permission to run in the background with an “On/Off” toggle.

Just bear in mind that, apps normally run in the background to update their live tiles, download new data, and receive notifications. If you want an app to continue performing these functions, you should allow it to continue running in
the background.
