Windows 10: Why do my Desktop icons appear so strange???

Why do my Desktop icons appear like this every few days or whenever there is an update? Some look fuzzy and strange while other are almost non existent... just their titles remain

I think you're fine. I think you've just noticed the UsersFilesFolder , a virtual folder ( like Network, This PC, etc. ) that seems to mirror the contents of the user's profile folder.

Quick Test:

• In the EXplorer Address bar or a Run dialog, type: shell:UsersFilesFolderEnter

If that command opens the same folder you juist noticed, everything is fine.

It's normally always visible when viewing the rooted Desktop in Explorer:






It has this special icon:




The icon can be shown or hidden on the Desktop via:

• Settings >Personalization > Themes and clicking the Desktop icons settings link

Here are 2 images of 2 different Desktops.
Does this mean they are both taking up space on the hdd.

Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.
