Windows 10: Why do my files keep getting corrupt?

So every couple of months I seem to have a problem... Something acting a bit weird, or my whole computer is amazingly slow, etc..

So I usually go for chkdsk /f /r and sfc /scannow

Now when running sfc, I ALWAYS seem to have some corrupt files? Now all I really do is browse Facebook, YouTube, Netflix etc. And play games using steam. So why do they always get corrupt?

I'm suffering at the moment because the sfc command "can't fix some of them" and I've run dism restore health but still to no avail.

Hi Tom! This could happen for variety of reasons. If repeating, then be prepare for some hardware problems.

When it started?
Describe your hardware.. and did you perform some temperature monitoring?
What does your SMART data for hard drive shows?
Is your (system) partition almost full?
Could also be some power issues.

First, if you can, make a backup of you essential files (if you didn't already), fill in you system data in profile and provide some more info..

Edit: look at your event viewer for last few hours after problems occurs. Critical events and warnings should give you some more info!

 

Hi, once you have done the above and some disk checks as suggested above - e.g. Crystal Diskinfo to get SMART parameters- your essential preparation for failure (imminent, 'random', unfortunate download and installation, disk failing, or even - surely not- user error) is to use disk imaging- create disk images e.g. using Macrium Reflect (free). Everyone should use this vital tool routinely to protect their data, their PC and their sanity.

As SFC and DISM haven't fixed your problem, the remaining option is an in-place upgrade repair.
For that you will need either a bootable Win 10 medium or at least an iso file.

Once you've answered the above, I can post info on the in-place upgrade repair.
Have you applied the anniversary upgrade?

Also - as you mention your PC is sometimes slow- please post a screenshot of your task manager- click on the CPU tab to order processes by highest CPU use at the top.
