Windows 10: Why do my list of Apps, Games, Snipping Tool, often used apps Disappear in my Windows start...

The last 3 Updates for Windows 11 so last 3 months I lose all my Games and Apps which normally stayed listed in my Windows Start button. When you click on Windows Icon Button it brings up your start with a list of Apps I always play or use. I can also bring that up by typing in "Search". Now the last 3 times updates were installed all my favorites in that list disappear, and in its place is GET STARTED, WHAT'S NEW, ETC. This is a pain because I have to start all over getting those apps back in place. I have also tried to just put the apps on my Desktop, but have found no way to do that

Please try this:

Step 1:

Click Start, and type Snipping Tool.

Right-click Snipping Tool from the search results, and click App Settings

Click Reset,

Click Repair.

Note: In Windows 11, there is no Snip and Sketch. It comes pre-installed with the new Snipping Tool (which replaces the old Snipping Tool and Snip & Sketch apps)

Step 2:

Turn off Focus assist if it's enabled

Step 3:

Open Services.msc and make sure that the following services are set to "Automatic" and running:

• Windows Push Notifications System Service
  
• Windows Push Notifications User Service
  

 

Snip It app

Is there a way to add Snip it App to your list of apps?

I dont want to type Snip every time i want to use this and then add it.

It was showing on my Most Used List which made it easy to find, but then right after using it, it disappeared from Most Used. I dont think the Most Used list is working right. I know it ignores pinned apps ,but why did it show the Snip It App and then
right after using Snip it , it disappeared from the list. It shouldve moved up the list , not off the list.

 

A basic guide to using the Snipping tool

1 Open the Snipping tool from the Start menu
Note - it is located at C:\Windows\System32\SnippingTool.exe



2 Choose Options If you want to, you can click on Options to set anything you want there. This is probably best left for experimenting after you have got used to the utility.



3 Set the Mode by clicking on its icon and selecting Rectangular snip then clicking on Cancel {or it will think you want to go straight into snipping a picture now}. I suggest that others Modes are best left for experimenting after you have got used to the utility.



4 Take a picture [“a snip”]
4.1 Click on the New icon.


4.2 The screen will turn greyish and the cursor will turn into a white cross. You can see the cursor in this example just to the left of the TenForums icon.


4.3 Click & drag around the area you want to capture in your snip. As you drag, you’ll see the colour come back in the area you are selecting.


4.4 Release your mouse button & the area is captured.


4.5 Click on the Save icon and the image is saved.



5 Delay a snip to capture temporary visual effects
5.1 You might want to capture, say, a context menu


but the act of clicking on the Snipping tool’s New icon makes the context menu disappear.
5.2 So, before clicking on the New icon, click on the Delay icon & select 5 seconds


5.3 Then click on New, carry out whatever task brings up the vision you are trying to capture and just sit there waiting for the screen to turn greyish.


5.4 You can then capture the image as you did in section 4 above.

6 Altering the captured image
You can click on the pen icon [shown highlighted below], the highlighter icon to its right or even the rubber to alter the image [before or after first saving it]. Be sure to save it [again] after editing it.


This facility can be particularly useful when seeking help in TenForums because you can use it to draw attention to the specific screen elements that you want other people to notice.

7 Other refinements
I don’t use and cannot advise on any particularly useful aspects of the copy icon, the email icon or the Paint3D icon.
