Why do my services have numbers and letters next to them, Is it best to reinstall as I have run multipal virus scans and viruses : AarSvc_183421c and most of the service have the same numbers and letters and they change after a restart

NumLock Turns Letters Into Numbers on Desktop Computer

I had the same problem, it seems that it happens only with several keyboards.
Finally I solved it this way (sorry, but I've got Polish language set):

• Step 1 - Go to keyboard driver properties using Device Manager and select Update driver
  
• Step 2 - Select Browse my computer, then Allow me to choose from drivers list
  
• Step 3 - Uncheck "Show compatible hardware"
  

Now find something like "Standard keyboard device" on the drivers list, install it (click Yes in the compatibility warning window) and check if keyboard is still working.

If so - reboot Your computer and enjoy fixed keyboard without letters turning into numbers.

If not - revert driver back and try another one.

 

help. USB drive isn't assigned a drive letter.

Any usb flash drive I plug into my computer isn't assigned a drive letter. The physical drive shows in the "safely remove hardware" but it doesnt show up in disk management. I have tried to populate the volume thru the safely remove hardware properties window and it does pop up in the list but it doesn't stay there. This isn't a format or assign a letter problem. It's more complicated then that. Maybe one of the services needed for usb drive management was disabled? Suggestions needed. btw external usb harddrives work fine.

Might I suggest you go to HTC's site and download HTC Dialer which is a skin that includes the letters for each button under the number (like on your telephone).
