Windows 10: Why do my USB's turn off when not in use?: Windows 11

If I'm watching a video or chatting with friends and my keyboard and mouse are not in use, Windows will turn off all of my usb devices before turning them back on only a few seconds later.I have looked at many websites that detail the same issue and have taken the precautions and actions that they recommend and nothing is working.Whatever is doing it is really getting on my nerves, especially considering I know no one who has had the same issue/ any website that knows how to fix my seemingly unique issue.Please help!!

Installing windows off of a USB stick

Step By Step from vista:
From admin cmd prompt

1. diskpart
1a. list disk
2. select disk 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

Copy Windows Vista's DVD ROM content to the Flash Drive

xcopy d:\*.* /s/e/f e:\ (d being your vista cd and e being your usb stick)

And that's it, boot off your usb disk

 

Issue with USB ports turning off

Hi Mattx1,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Community.

1. Does the issue occur with all the USB devices plugged in to the PC?
   
2. Does the issue occur when you plug in the USB device to any of the UISB port on the PC?
   
3. Did you make any changes to the PC prior to this issue?
   

Let us try these steps one by one to check if that makes any difference.

Step 1: Suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter and check if that helps.

1. From the Settings screen, choose Update & Security.
   
2. Select Troubleshoot. Look for Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter and run it.
   
3. Follow the on-screen direction to complete the process and if required please apply the fix it.
   
4. Once it is done, please reboot the computer and check the status.
   

Step 2: Suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the USB drivers on the PC to check if that helps.

1. Press ‘Windows + R’ keys, type ‘devmgmt.msc’ in run window and press Enter.
   
2. In Device Manager, expand "Universal Serial Bus Controllers".
   
3. Right click a device under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" and click uninstall.
   
4. Perform same step for other devices. When completed, restart the computer.
   

All USB controllers will reinstall automatically.

Multi-bootable USB

Hey guys from TPU, couldn't find any specific thread pertaining to the question asked on title. As mentioned, I'm trying to create a bootable USB, but with many specifics boots available.

I've been trying to create one with multiple boot device including one that enables me to run Windows 10 directly on the USB Thumb Drive but to no avail.

The list of bootable images i'm trying to create are

1. Windows 10 (A full OS running from thumb drive)
2. Windows 10 ISO (Bootable disk image for fresh install)
3. MemTest86+

Have tried YUMI or UUI from the website USB PenDrive Linux but as this is my first time, i don't know how am i screwing up or am doing it right.. Anyone got a rough idea on a step by step guide? Thanks!
