    Why do pinned or favorited files keep disappearing from Quick Access and Favorites?


    Pinned and favorited files kept disappearing from Quick Access and Favorites in recent update of Windows 10. Updated to Windows 11 and same problem remains.Pinning files to Quick Access is successful, then a day later the files are no longer in Quick Access. Same issue with Favorites.

    What is the difference between the Favorites and the Quick Access?

    In the File explorer there is the Favorite folder.
    I can add folder links there to access tem after. The bad thing about it is that I can not unfold it to directyl access targets inside.
    so every time I need to access one of my favorites I have to first navigate to the favorites and than to the target folder.
    Further if there is a lot of content in the explorer navigation bar - the favorites are not pinned - so I first have to scroll to the top, so o fast access to the favorites the second way.

    Additionally there is something like Quick access.
    But I don't know how to use this - I can pin folders to the quick access - but they do not show up anywhere.
    Should they?

    Windows 10: Rename pinned items in Windows Explorer's Quick Access

    Sort of a kludge, but it works:

    1. Add the desired directory to a Library
    2. Rename the library as you wish
    3. Pin the Library to Quick Access

    Update: I used the solution above for a while, then I found it cumbersome to maintain and now I have done this:

    1. Created a "Favorites" folder anywhere in my hard disk and pinned it to Quick Access (you can even change its icon to make it look like a star)
    2. Put inside it all the shortcut I want to access rapidly

    It kinda restores the Favorites feature but with the hassle of an additional step.

    I can only pin one folder to Quick Access, if I try to pin another the first disappears.

    Original Title: Quick Access is not quick access

    What is the point of Quick Access when it doesn't keep the files you want quick access to pinned as you would like? I can only pin one folder, if I try to pin another the first disappears. It doesn't make sense. Is there a way to pull Favorites from Windows
    7 into Windows 10? It was actually useful. With Quick Access I have to drill down in files all day long.
