Windows 10: Why do security updates cause som older apps to stop functioning?

Yesterday, I clicked on the icon to start Cadkey Wireframe, an app that has worked flawlessly through Windows 2000, XP, 7 & 10. Now with version 11, the Cadkey app won't run after certain updates are installed, usually, a security update. It has also caused a problem with another app, Indu Soft Web Studio 7.1. I should have done a screen shot of the error message, but I needed my Cad program quickly, so I uninstalled the security update as I had done a few weeks earlier, and bingo, Cadkey started working again. If this is going to continue, you should give users the ability to opt out

Windows Update to 1H21 causes loss of right-click function  

First step isn't right click. The download is a zip file. The program is portable.



If you can't even run that, and given other issues, and the length of this thread, and if an in-place upgrade repair install won't help, suggest you're looking at a clean install.

There's a possibility that the recent changes has caused some conflicts in running your app (i.e. compatibility issues). In the meantime, we suggest that you do the following troubleshooting steps below:

• Install the latest updates available for your app.
• Run the app in Compatibility mode. You may check this
  link for the steps.
• Uninstall and reinstall the app
