  1. Why do so many items in Device Manager show as "Not Started"?

None of my network adapters show as started in Device Manager under events. They show as "Device Not Started" with the information had a problem starting "Problem Status: 0xC00000E5" None of the troubleshooting methods I've tried have made any difference. While searching for an answer, I found that my Device Manager was riddled with many other instances of hardware and other system components "not started". Unlike the Network Adapters, these other components respond to troubleshooting methods resulting in "Started" while a few only then show as "Configured". I discovered that none of the Soft

  2. When starting computer Renesas USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0.96 (Microsoft) and USB 3.0 root hub missing from device manager

    Hi,

Since you've mentioned that the USB 3.0 doesn't appear in the Device Manager window. We recommend that you check the BIOS settings your device if the USB 3.0 is enabled. If you've already checked the BIOS settings and found out that it is enabled, we suggest
    that you follow these steps:

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Under the View tab, click Show hidden devices.
    • Check Universal Serial Bus controllers if it will show the missing items.

This will show all the hidden devices under Device Manager.

We'll be waiting for your response.

external hard drive showing up in device management but not disk management

    Hi,

I recently tried to use a brand new Seagate 2TB External HD, but it is not showing up. It initially showed up, but after I tried reformatting it to exFAT32, it disappeared from the disk management list.

    I then tried:

    • refreshing the disk management list,
    • inserting into a different USB port,
    • re-starting my computer, and
    • uninstalling the device from device manager/letting it refresh,

I still can't see it. There is no yellow error in the USB controller list.

    I'm on Windows 10.

    Intel i5-3317U @ 1.7GHz

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

  4. Why do so many items in Device Manager show as "Not Started"?

Network devices listed under Unknown in Device Manager

I have a Dell Inspiron M731R laptop upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 Home 64-Bit that suddenly quit connecting to the home network. Was using wireless, so switched to an Ethernet cable, but still no luck. I just discovered that ALL of the network-related devices are now listed under an "Unknown" tab in the Device Manager. A check of properties of each item in that folder says they are all working properly, but that obviously isn't the case. I tried uninstalling each of the 4 items, but when they are recognized again they still show up under the Unknown tab. Any suggestions would be welcome.
