Windows 10: Why do taskbar buttons change order when switching between desktops?

When switching between virtual desktops, the order of taskbar buttons revert to some previous state. But the issue still occurs 2023... Setting the group policy mentioned in above thread didn't solve the issue.

Using Virtual Desktop for a short time only, the first one/two weeks it was perfect, no rearrangement of the taskbar buttons happend, but now it does... and it's annoying and makes the cool feature "Virtual Desktop" less user-friendly...

How to prevent the arrangement of the taskbar buttons when switching between virtual desktops?

But wondering that Microsoft was not able to fix this within 8(!) years...

I've one monitor and two desktops, that usually switch between them.

But when I back to previous desktop, the taskbar buttons are rearranged and sorted differently from what I made.

Is there any option to keep the previous order of buttons?

Actually I mean switching between desktops by (ctrl+win+→) or (ctrl+win+←)

I want my taskbar buttons to be ordered in the way that I put them there. I don't do that because I like doing it, but because I work that way. I don't feel like explaining why. I just want a particular order.

Now why des Windows feel the need to reorder my buttons??

Every time, FULLY reproducible, every time I switch to a different virtual desktop and back, the taskbar buttons are reset to some arbitrary default order.

This is a bug in Windows. Microsoft, please fix this. You're ignoring a user's action you're allowing in the first place. If you can't keep order, don't provide reordering. If you provide reordering, keep the order as the user decides.

Taskbar buttons are set to only display buttons for the current desktop. So virtual desktop #2 has different buttons than virtual desktop #1. I also have 2 screens (above each other). The same goes there: taskbar buttons are shown for the windows that are
on each particular desktop only.

Again, 100% reproducible.

Everything is up-to-date. Mainstream releases only. No 3rd party window management. Only StartIsBack++, which doesn't concern itself with button placement.
