Windows 10: Why do your updates ruin everything

Hi Windows,


I was just wondering why you send out updates that destroy computers? I have a HP Pavillion and if I wasn't a bit tech savy then I would be staring down the barrel of a $400 call out fee by an IT proffessional on a Saturday night to be able to get my laptop to work again. Thankfully I know how terrible your updates are as it has ruined two laptops for me in the past. So I uninstalled your last two updates from the 11th Feb and what do you know I have a functioning laptop again.


My question is, at what point do you have a duty of care to pay for these costs and anxieties that your program causes? The stress and anxiety I have just experienced panic attack included at not being able to use my laptop once again because of your poor software was almost unbearable. Why can I not opt to turn your windows updates off permanently and if I am unable to do this then will you be willing to pay for a new laptop for me the next time your software turns another laptop into an expensive paperweight?

Win 10 update ruined my computer

I will gladly dispose of any "ruined computer" that Windows 10 has "ruined". Just ship them to me and I will take care of disposing of the "ruined" hardware!

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

update to Photos app, Windows 10, totally ruining photos
