Windows 10: Why does a subfolder appear in the right pane, but not the left pane of Windows Explorer...

When I move a subfolder in the left pane of Windows Explorer to another folder, it is visible within the folder it was moved to in the right pane, but not visible on the left pane under the new folder it was moved to I am unable to see the moved folder when the folders are expanded in the left pane. I must restart Explorer to be able to see the moved folder in the left pane after expanding folders. All files, including system files, are unhidden. I am using Windows 10 Pro, Version 22H2, Build 19045.4894. This occurs on a WD My Book 3 TB remote drive that is mapped to the PC. The drive i

How To Get the Right Windows Explorer Pane into the Left Pane?

You know you can set up a desktop link to a folder on your hard drive? Then when you click on it you'll be there in windows explorer. In the right pane will be the folder you want and the address bar will contain the path. But the left pane will be located at somewhere else - like in this instance of mine root : C: And if you click the up arrow at the left of the address bar you'll move up one level towards the root in that right pane. The left pane will not change at all. Now I want the Left pane to be 'located' at that folder. Just as if I'd navigated there in the normal way. Can that be done? Here's a screenshot of what I mean.

Now I want the left pane to be located at that 21_12_03 folder. (and I wish I could have cut and pasted that).

 

How To Get the Right Windows Explorer Pane into the Left Pane?

There's an Explorer setting that will do what you ask: Open the View tab of your Explorer ribbon. Click the "Options" item at far right. Select "Change folder and search options" A "Folder Options" dialog window (popup) will open. Click on the "View" tab. At bottom will be a long list of checkboxes under "Advanced Settings". Scroll down almost at the end to the Navigation Pane settings. Find the one that says "Expand to Open Folder", and check it. Click the "OK" button at bottom to dismiss the dialog box. Henceforward, whatever folder you are showing in the right pane should be highlighted in the folder tree in the left (navigation) pane.
