Windows 10: Why Does A Windows 11 Connected Printer No Longer Have PDF Scan Option?

I will not bother to identify the brand of my printer because apparently, a number of people with various printer/scanner brands are experiencing this dilemma. I have downloaded the full suite of drivers / software for my printer/fax/scanner. I have checked the brand compatibility list and my current printer is compatible with Windows 11. I have already posted a question with the printer manufacturer community forum. Waiting for an answer.I would like a response that does not recommend working with a third-party scan program, which I have read about. I want a straightforward answer as to

Why can't I scan to pdf with Windows 11?

When I attempt to scan from my HP printer to my HP windows 11 laptop through the Scanner app I am not given the option of a pdf document. Only options given are tiff, png, jpeg and bitmap. I need to be able to save to pdf. What am I missing? So far not a fan of Windows 11 at all. I scan documents all the time and so far it seems like the steps to scan are too many. Note, I attempted to scan from my printer and it stated that the scanner needs to be connected to the printer. Printer is connected and prints fine. Please Help!!!!

 

Print to PDF missing in Printer List

Hi William,

We suggest that you disable and re-enable the Print to PDF feature. Here are the steps:

• Click on the Start menu and type in Windows Features.
• Choose Turn Windows features on or off.
• On the next window, find Microsoft Print to PDF and disable it. Click
  OK to save changes.
• Restart your PC.
• Repeat the same steps to re-enable Microsoft Print to PDF.

Windows Fax & Scan: How to Scan Documents to PDF format?


Greetings all,

In connection with my job, I have several insurance companies asking me to send scanned documents in Portable Document Format (PDF). My Brother Printer Control Center Fax-Scan software is not yet compatible with Windows10, even in Windows7 compatibility mode. The Windows10 Fax & Scan program does not list PDF as a scan-to file conversion option. Only jpeg, bitmap, txt, etc..

Is there a way to tweak or add-on something to Windows Fax & Scan to make it scan documents into PDF format? Thank-you for any guidance with this.
