Why does “Access Denied” appear after I try changing the process priority setting for Fortnite in the task manager? Yes I tried running task manager as administrator

Task Manager: Access Denied (Setting Priority)

Even though I use the admin profile and launch the task manager as such I get the "access denied" message when I try to change priority of the processes or set affinity for them. I have the latest build of Windows 10 Home Edition. Is there any solution for
this?

Task manger (access denied) set priority

Hi Dustin,

If you are denied from access when changing a setting in Windows, it could mean that you do not have administrator privileges to change or access the settings. Kindly log in to your computer as an administrator to change the setting.

If logging in as an administrator does not help, kindly check if User Account Control is enabled. User Account Control is in place to make sure programs don't do any damage to your system. Here's how to check User Account Control:

• Press the Start button, then type User Account Control, and open the option to change
  User Account Control settings.
• Set it to your preferred option, then change the settings in Task Manager.

Set priority of process in Windows 10 - access denied

So I learned today that in Windows 10, after loading task manger, you have to click the Details tab to see the processes, not the Processes tab. So that's nice.

But now when I right click a process, click set priority, choose low, I get Access Denied error.

(note: this is the Malware Bytes process)

I've tried running task manager as administrator, doesn't work.

How to fix access denied problem? Thanks!
