Why does copying and pasting photos from Photo app use computer storage when transferring...

Hi, I'm currently trying to move photos from my photo app on my pc sent from my iPhone via the cloud, however when I copy and paste them I get to a certain amount and it tells me my storage on my computer is full. I don't understand how this is happening when I'm moving them to my external hard drive. I'm not making a new folder on my computer literally just moving from computer to hard drive. They should just smoothy transfer across. It just tells me I need a certain amount of space on windows to continue. I'm getting extremely frustrated with this as I have never had so many issues trying to

    :)

Photo App - Copying photos from one comuputer to another

Thank you for the above suggestions. While I haven't studied the linked web pages yet, they all appear to give guidance on how to transfer files. Or to import files from a camera.

    That is not the problem,

I have 10 years worth of photos, from multiple devices. On my old computer the Photo App neatly orders them in to date order. Having transferred all 10 years worth on to a new computer today the Photo App now lists all photos as being dated today, as all
the files have today's date as the modification date, which appears to be what the app uses to sort the photos.

So it is not a transfer issue. Its the fact that, as far as I can see, the app can only sort based on the modification date, which is re-set to the date the files are transferred to a new computer.

It is not really feasible to re-import the photos from the various cameras / phones that the family have used over the past 10 years.

    Thanks for the help though.

    Photo Transfer

    Hi Lorie,

You can transfer photos from your computer to your flash drive in many ways such as by copying and pasting the files, by dragging and dropping them, or by using the Send to option. You can perform the following steps about how your transfer
    your files:

    • Insert your flash drive into your computer’s USB port.
    • Open File Explorer, select the photos you want to transfer, right-click on the group of selected files, then select
      Copy.
    • Explore your flash drive on another File Explorer window. Your flash drive should be recognized as a drive letter. Most flash drives will be labelled as a
      Removable Disk.
    • Right-click on an area where you want to transfer it, then select Paste.

Alternatively, you can select the photos then drag and drop them to their destination which is a folder on your flash drive. You can also select the photos, right-click on the group of selected files, choose Send To, then select the letter
    of your flash drive.

Let us know if there is anything else that we can help you with.
