Windows 10: Why does entering a Windows 11 Education product key yield Windows 11 Pro for Workstations?

Hello. The systems came with Windows 11 Pro. We purchased licenses separately for Windows 11 Education. When I changed the product key, the system properties showed the edition as Windows 11 Pro for Workstations.

Windows 11 Education product key failed

I recently obtained a Windows 11 education product key through my university's software portal. I had recently installed Windows 11 and saw that I could upgrade to windows 11 education and decided to give it a try. I entered the product key correctly, and I know this because the upgrade was in progress at one point (I think it said it was 89% done or something). I used my computer during the time it was loading, and when I checked in on the upgrade screen, an error message saying that the product key or upgrade failed or something like that. Confused, I entered the product key again, and now it says that the product key doesn't work. Any way to fix this? Should I go back to windows 10 and try again? It's been about 2 days since I upgraded to Windows 11 Home and a day since the upgrade to Windows 11 Education failed for context, and I have a basic access guarantee of 30 days for context.

 

How can I move from Windows 11 Education to Pro?

I used Windows 11 Education for work but now I gave the computer to my son and I want to move to Pro.

I bought a product key and tried the steps listed here but it didn't work. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
