  2. Microsoft updates breaks Nivdia surround

    Good morning,

Windows 11 updates break my Nvidia surround settings ever time. I postpone update for as long as possible, but last four updates cause me to have to set up surround again. I have latest Nvidia driver and even tried older drivers. Current using driver 526.47 and BIOS version 94.02.71.80.9d

    Windows 11 version 22H2 last update 1-30-2023

PC--Oct 2022 desktop Asus prime z690-p motherboard with RTX 3080 blower card 10Gb GDDR6X, 32gb ram, CPU Intel i9-12900k. I'm running triple MSI monitors with surround enabled set at 120hz 1440p bezel corrected.

After setting up surround everything works great running 120fps stable, 60 to 86 degrees Celsius no issues. Until Microsoft wants to update!! Very frustrating.

I've disabled windows update services and paused for 5 weeks.....temp fix

    Appreciated

  3. Windows crashes when I try to switch off Nvidia Surround!

    Hi Johnny,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I can imagine the inconvenience you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to fix the issue. However, I would appreciate if you could answer a few questions to narrow down the issue in order to
    provide you with better assistance.

    1. What is the make and model of the computer?
    2. When you say the computer crashes, do you get any error code/error message?
    3. Was there any updates installed on your device prior to this issue?
    4. Which build version of Windows is installed on your device?

Refer the article Which version of Windows operating system am
    I running
    to provide the details.

Upon checking I see that the supported operating system for NVidia surround is Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit.

Refer the article SURROUND MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
    for more information.

However, I would suggest you to follow the methods mentioned below.

    Note:
Create a system restore point before following the further steps.

    Method 1

I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the Video card drivers. Refer the suggestions from
JMH3143 dated May, 2016 for the steps.

    Method 2

You can Auto-Detect your GPU and install the drivers.

If you want to setup dual monitor, I suggest you to refer the article
Set up dual monitors on Windows 10
    as an additional information.

Why does every windows update break my nvidia surround settings?

    No bass in surround

Okay I will mark this as solved as I have fixed my issue. Here is what I did:

    • After trying all the common suggestions about drivers and such, I had no luck
    • On a whim, I bought a sound card and hooked it up via the optical cable.
    • I also changed the speaker settings on my receiver from Large to Small.
    • I removed all sound drivers other than those for my sound card (Soundblaster ZX)

I now have bass in surorund sound. I also have it set to 5.1 in Windows and have checked all speakers with a surround sound audio file I downloaded.

My guess is that the driver coming off of the Nvidia card is only in 2.1 and it just can't decode/send the right sounds to the receiver over HDMI.

At any rate, hopefully this will help someone else.
