Windows 10: Why does Explorer Crash if i insert my USB drive

    Why does Explorer Crash if i insert my USB drive


    I got some Photos on my usb stick and i wanted to show them my dad but if i try to open it explorer just chrashes and restarts without the usb drive. It dont even shows up in disc managment. is it now broken or what can i do to repair it please help me!

    Hi,

    It seems that your USB is having an issue. We suggest running Check Disk to find and repair errors in the USB drive. To do so, please follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows key + X and then select Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Copy and paste chkdsk E: /f, then hit Enter.

    Please use chkdsk E: command to check the integrity of your USB drive.

    Note: Change "E:" to the USB drive letter you're using.

    Let us know the result.

    Windows Explorer crashes whenever I open my external HDD or thumb drive in explorer..

    Windows Explorer crashes whenever I open my external HDD or thumb drive in explorer..

    So, I open up My Computer, open my F Drive and boom: "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and must close". It is really annoying! I am fine everywhere else in explorer, but something just screws up when I try the external HDD (USB) or my thumb drive.

    Can anyone help?

    Usb flash drive, please insert disk into drive error?

    i updated my computer and updated windows as the hardware troubleshooter suggested and that did not work

    i tried diskpart and tried going through disk management as admin it does let me pick to change as the above pics show and i have windows 10 64 bit the usb is a monster digital 16gb usb
